Inorganic silica gel is a kind of highly active adsorption material, which is usually prepared by reaction of sodium silicate with sulfuric acid, aging and acid bubble. Silica gel is an amorphous substance with the chemical formula of msio2.nh2o. It is insoluble in water and any solvent, non-toxic, tasteless, stable chemical properties, and does not react with any substance except strong base and hydrofluoric acid. Different types of silica gel have different microporous structures due to their different manufacturing methods. The chemical composition and physical structure of silica gel determine that it has many characteristics which are difficult to be replaced by other similar materials: high adsorption performance, good thermal stability, stable chemical properties, high mechanical strength, etc.; it is used as drying agent, humidity regulator, deodorizer, etc. in industry, it is used as oil and hydrocarbon decolorizer, catalyst carrier, pressure swing adsorbent, etc.; and separation and purification agent for fine chemical industry Beer stabilizer, coating thickener, toothpaste friction agent, matting agent, etc.

Inorganic silica gel, according to its use, can also be divided into beer silica gel, pressure swing silica gel, medical silica gel, discolored silica gel, silica gel desiccant, silica gel opener, toothpaste silica gel and so on.


Silica gel is classified according to the size of its pore size as follows: large pore silica gel, coarse pore silica gel, type B silica gel, fine pore silica gel.Because of the different pore structures, their adsorption properties are each characterized.Coarse pore silica gel has higher adsorption capacity in high relative humidity, fine pore silica gel has higher adsorption capacity in low relative humidity than coarse pore silica gel, and B-type silica gel also has between coarse and fine pores because of the pore structure is between coarse and fine pores.
