With the advancement of science and technology and the development of society, people's daily life has been inseparable from plastic products and rubber products. If people are professional in these two industries, it is easy to mix them together. So, today I will briefly talk about the difference between rubber products and plastic products.

     First, let's start with the difference between plastic and rubber. Simply put, if the plastic is deformed under the action of external force, it is difficult to return to its original state, and rubber is easily restored to its original state. For example, if the rubber o-ring is stretched, it will be restored to its original state. However, if the plastic tarpaulin is deformed, it will not return to its original state. In professional terminology, it is plastic deformation if plastic deformation occurs under external force, and elastic deformation if rubber deformation occurs. This is important because of their molecular structure. The elasticity of plastics is individually less than 100%, while rubber can exceed 1000% at most.


Secondly, the production process is different. There is a vulcanization process for rubber products. The silicone seal ring has an open porous structure, can absorb many substances, and is a good desiccant, adsorbent and catalyst carrier. The adsorption of silica gel is mainly physical adsorption, which can be regenerated and used repeatedly. Add acid to the alkali metal silicate (such as sodium silicate) solution to acidify it, and then add a certain amount of electrolyte to stir, that is, generate a silicic acid gel; or add acid to the more concentrated sodium silicate solution or Ammonium salts can also generate silicic acid gel.
 
    Finally, plastic products may be recycled and reused repeatedly, but rubber products are not. It can only be made into reclaimed rubber by processing, and then it can be used again. O-rings are usually selected as much as possible when using large-section O-rings. In the case of the same gap, the volume of the O-rings being squeezed into the gap should be less than the maximum allowable value of the squeeze.
